Regina Askia Early Life and Education
Imaobong Regina Askia Usoro (now Regina Askia Williams) was born to Elder Asika Usoro of Ukanafun, Akwa Ibom State, at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Idi Araba, Lagos.
Regina Askia received her Senior Secondary School certificate in 1985 from the Federal Government Girls’ College in Calabar.
She continued her education at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), where she graduated in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences (B.Sc. Biology).

She began her tertiary education, however, at the University of Calabar before being transferred to the University of Lagos.
While still a student at the University of Lagos, she was crowned Miss University of Lagos in 1988.
Regina Askia received her training in New York, USA, where she earned a second Bachelor of Science in Nursing (CUNY College of Staten Island, NY) and a Master of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner (Wagner College, Staten Island, NY).

She also made history by becoming the first Nigerian to compete in the Miss International pageant in Japan, where she stood out for wearing the best traditional attire.
